The National Shrimp Industry Roadmap is periodically published every 6 years by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources. This initiative was made possible through the leadership of the Shrimp Industry Roadmap Development Team led by its team leaders, Mr. Joseph Edgar M. Sarrosa (SEACORP) and Ms. Maria Abegail A. Albaladejo (BFAR-NSPP), co-team leader, Ms. Roselyn Usero (NPPC), and various experts from input provision, production, processing, trading & final sales, and enabling environment shrimp sectors. The establishment of the shrimp industry roadmap aims to provide directions and actions to promote industry growth from 2021-2040. It specifically answers the questions: “Where are we now?” via the strengths-weaknesses-opportunities-threats (SWOT analysis), “Where do we want to go?” by through the establishment of the stakeholders’ vision, mission, goals, and objectives, “how do we get there?” based on priority policies, strategies, and programs.

It is the foremost vision of the Philippine Shrimp Industry stakeholders to promote the country’s shrimp commodities and be internationally-recognized as a high-quality shrimp product produced in accordance with seafood safety and Good Aquaculture Practices (GAqP). This is aligned with the industry roadmap’s primary goals which are steady and sustainable shrimp production and a globally-competitive shrimp export.
